Call for Participation – Embedded Platforms with OPC UA FX Support
The OPC Foundation (OPCF) invites all OPCF members to actively participate in an upcoming multi-vendor demonstration that will showcase the interoperability and scalability of OPC UA FX across diverse hardware and software environments. The demo will feature a wide range of embedded hardware platforms that establish the foundation for developing OPC UA FX device prototypes – including, motion devices, remote I/O, and field instruments – working seamlessly together with OPC UA FX controllers and OPC UA FX edge gateways.
This collaborative showcase will debut at the SPS trade fair in Nuremberg, Germany in November 2025, providing the community with a unique opportunity to highlight progress and strengthen engagement in shaping the future of industrial communication.
This initiative is designed to bring together the OPC UA FX ecosystem of vendors, developers, and technology providers to accelerate adoption and guarantee robust interoperability across platforms and performance levels. Furthermore, the demo prototypes support the validation of the OPC UA FX specification extensions for both Controller-to-Device (C2D) and Device-to-Device (D2D) use cases, ensuring reliable cross-vendor implementations and a solid basis for market adoption.

OPC UA FX Maintenance Release V1.00.03 Published
The OPC Foundation has released the OPC UA Field eXchange (UAFX) V1.00.03 maintenance update, including Parts: OPC 10000-80 (Overview & Concepts), OPC 10000-81 (Connecting Devices and Information Model), OPC 10000-82 (Networking), OPC 10000-83 (Offline Engineering) and OPC 10000-84 (Profiles). Published on July 31, 2025, this release includes input from the OPCF member-review started earlier in the year.
Key updates include:
- Clarifications and corrections across all parts for consistent terminology and updated references
- Diagnostic capabilities for improved troubleshooting
- Modelling of Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) information
- Conformance Units and Profiles for the diagnostic features
This release strengthens interoperability and stability while maintaining backward compatibility, making it the recommended baseline for all UAFX adopters – ideal for projects moving from pilot to production.
Each of the Parts and respective NodeSets are now available as Version 1.00.03 in the official OPC UA Online Reference, marking a coordinated revision cycle across the full UAFX stack.
