The OPC Foundation announced that the OPC Unified Architecture (OPC UA) specifications and technology will be made available to companies, consortia, and end users without requiring membership in the OPC Foundation. The OPC Foundation is implementing an “open shared source” strategy to facilitate widespread adoption of the technology beyond industrial automation.
All of the OPC UA specifications and companion specifications are now available from the OPC Foundation website without requiring membership.
We’re now in process of making the OPC Unified Architecture technology deliverables available as open shared source on github and putting together the proper infrastructure to facilitate companies and individuals getting a real exciting jump start and understanding of the power of OPC Unified Architecture and what it can do as the infrastructure solution for secure reliable interoperability for moving data and information from the embedded world to the cloud. First planned release of the complete infrastructure for .NET is scheduled for mid August 2015.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
