Welcome to the April edition of the OPC connect newsletter!
2017 has already started off as a banner year in terms of OPC technology and marketing activities. I have attended and presented at numerous different events in the first three months of the year. Some of these events included the ARC Forum, Internet of Manufacturing event (Chicago), Internet of Things show (San Diego), Smartlabs event (San Diego), Open-SCS meeting (Brescia, Italy), Pack Expo East (Philadelphia), and now the Automate show (Chicago). This is only a partial list of places I have traveled in the first three months of 2017. In the marketing column Stefan Hoppe writes about all of the events that he has been participating in, including his most recent trip to Korea to establish our OPC Korea organization.
I attended the Internet of Manufacturing event presented by the Internet of Business organization in early March. The whole conference was very well choreographed with many great speakers and informative content. I wrote about my experiences on my LinkedIn profile (Article Title: Internet of manufacturing event held in Chicago by the Internet of business, Published on Mar 17, 2017). I will continue to write about my experiences at some of the many events that I will be attending in the coming months.
I will be representing the OPC Foundation and speaking about OPC UA technology development, the publish/subscribe architecture, information integration, and system-wide interoperability, as well as time sensitive networking at events like Automate in Chicago, IL on April 3-6. The Automate event provided a perfect platform to showcase the specifications and technology developed by the OPC Foundation and the multitude of vendors producing OPC UA enabled products.
I will also be going to the Hannover Fair where the OPC Foundation has a booth along with a multitude of events and networking opportunities showcasing the OPC UA technology in action. Stay tuned for the results of our planned and very exciting press conference.
In May 2017, OPC will be represented at the ARC European Industry Fair where we will be demonstrating OPC UA’s applications for Industrie 4.0, IIoT, Smart Manufacturing, Advanced Manufacturing and Modularization, Asset Lifecycle Management, and Smart Machines.
Along with the previously mentioned events, I will be attending IIoT in Chicago, IL, the Deterministic Ethernet Forum in Vienna, NorTex Data Science Cluster in Houston, TX, NI Week in Austin, TX, OPC Day Europe in Copenhagen, and Africa Automation Fair in Johannesburg. These are just our events through June! 2017 will be a very busy year for the OPC Foundation.
We here at the OPC Foundation are eager to keep you abreast of the expansion of the OPC UA technology and progress made on the collaboration front. We appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to check out what we have been up to.
