OPC has been in the news recently.
Each year the embedded world Exhibition & Conference in Nuremberg offers the embedded 
community the opportunity to obtain information about new products and innovations, enter into an exchange, and to develop and maintain valuable contacts. This year’s exhibition was the largest ever with 939 exhibitors from 38 countries. OPC Foundation had a booth (pictured).
From the “Time Sensitive Networking Testbed” KUKA reports the use of OPC UA:
“The new IIC TSN testbed is an opportunity for KUKA to work with other industry leaders to prove standard technology for distributed real-time control systems as needed for edge cloud computing also known as ‘Fog Computing.’ We view TSN, combined with OPC UA Publish/Subscribe, as a core element to implement Industry 4.0 standards,” said Christian Schloegel, chief technology officer of the KUKA group.
