Matrikon continued its transition into a leading Enterprise-wide OT Data enabler based on its vision for implementing a Unified OT Data Layer (UODL) via the Matrikon Data Broker platform. As such, Matrikon launched a new leadership focused website (Matrikon.com) , updated messaging, and continued adding key functionality to the MDB platform like data source redundancy.
In this edition, we highlight new product capabilities, key demonstrations from SPS 2025, and updates to our secure development practices.
Matrikon Data Broker 2.5: High-Availability OPC UA with MDB-RM

The new Matrikon Data Broker 2.5 release introduces the Matrikon Redundancy Module (MDB-RM), a core function asked for by organizations that rely on uninterrupted OT data access.
MDB-RM lets teams make standard OPC UA servers redundant using a single, unified Redundant Data Source (RDS). It supports priority-based, round-robin, and watchdog-driven failover, along with manual control. Hot, warm, and cold modes are all available.
The result: a vendor-neutral, standards-aligned approach to redundancy that reduces engineering effort and improves reliability across mixed-vendor environments.
Matrikon Releases the Matrikon eFlex OPC UA SDK v1.0

Matrikon eFlex is a compact OPC UA SDK for Embedded and TSN-Enabled Devices
Matrikon released Matrikon eFlex SDK v1.0, a compact, high-performance SDK for embedded and resource-constrained devices. It provides:
- Full OPC UA Client/Server and PubSub
- Support for OPC UA FX information modeling and Connections
- TSN-ready architecture
- A clean C99 API
- A footprint suitable for OEMs and device developers
Seamless OPC UA over TSN + OPC UA FX Development with BE.Services eTSN

The BE.Services eTSN stack, based on eFlex, provides developers with a seamless way to implement OPC UA over TSN and OPC UA FX Controller-to-Device (C2D) communications.
Integrated with Matrikon eFlex, the BE. eTSN stack provides device manufacturers with a consistent development experience without having to stitch the solution together using disparate libraries or writing their own stacks. This reduces complexity, tech debt, and time to market for solutions utilizing deterministic networking and UAFX-compliant functionality.
This technology was demonstrated live at SPS 2025 in Nuremberg, where some of the embedded boards ran the eTSN (eFlex) stack to deliver real-time OPC UA FX communications. Videos from the event can be found on Matrikon’s LinkedIn feed.

OPC-to-UA MDB Adapter: A Practical Approach to OPC Classic Modernization

For companies still relying on OPC Classic infrastructure, the OPC-to-UA Matrikon Data Broker Adapter (MDBA) offers a clean and secure way to integrate Classic data into modern OPC UA environments.
The OPC to UA MDBA removes DCOM dependencies, lowers integration risk, and gives organizations the ability to modernize their architectures at their own pace—without replacing equipment that remains vital to operations.
Matrikon Development Process Is IEC 62443-4-1 Certified

While OPC UA provides secure-by-default communications, long-term product security depends on how the software is engineered and maintained. Matrikon develops its OT Data Technology using an IEC 62443-4-1 certified Secure Software Development Process—the same audited SDL practices used across Honeywell’s industrial software portfolio.
This ensures that all Matrikon products are developed and supported using a formally recognized, standards-based approach to secure software engineering.
Why this matters:
- Independent assurance that secure development practices are followed
- Smoother procurement and compliance processes
- Reinforces our commitment to reliable, trustworthy OT data technology
This certification underscores Matrikon’s long-term focus on secure, dependable OT data infrastructure.
